Vash the Stampede

I definitely had been on hiatus for nearly a year, but that hadn't stop me from posting up stuff again ;)

Vash the Stampede (from Trigun) is the first post for this blog's comeback. This piece of work is courtesy of Kaiyodo Revoltech, marking it as my favourite figure thus far from them (until Figma's Aegis and KOS-MOS ver.4 arrive, that is :P).

Vash's been quite elusive, but nevertheless, I found him at Time Machine. Thanks Tzyro, you've 'helped' me broke my budget this month... gotta eat grass liao >_<

Kuala Lumpur: Scene City

Ampang Lookout Point.

I've heard the name of the place being bantered about between a couple of my colleagues, and it piqued my curiosity. You might repeat the old adage to me of how curious cats became victims of mishaps due to their (mis)adventures, but I assure you I'm still healthy with no limbs missing from the little trip to that particular point of interest :)

A few of my colleagues and I went there to snap photos of the sunset, as they told me it was beautiful to see the sun going down behind the city. When we made our way up on a Friday evening, it started to drizzle. By the time we arrived at the top, the rain was already splashing down in full torrents. You could say our chances to capture the orange ember giving way to the night were dampened (pun unintended).

At least we had our first experience eating our lunch/dinner at the highest peak with the rain soaking our food...

My colleagues enduring the food as they wait for the rain... or was it the other way round?

Since we missed the chance to grab pictures of the sunset, we stayed and hoped to get a good night view of the city. But we're in for more disappointment even after the rain has stopped: the air was misty and all the photos we took were kind of hazy...

My Magic 8 Ball tells me the same thing: Outlook hazy, try again

We were already on the brink of forgoing our photography adventure; we've started to pack to go home when lo and behold - the skies suddenly cleared and the city lights shone bright and beautiful! Though we've seen countless pictures of Kuala Lumpur's night scenery, we never thought the city would look much more charming seeing it with our very own eyes. We took photos of that picturesque moment, but we still found them not doing enough justice compared to being there at that very moment to experience it in person.

Trust me, the photos don't do the night view enough justice...

Ampang Lookout Point - it's where you get to see the heart of Kuala Lumpur illuminated by the united splendour of bustling activity after sundown...

Macross: Variable Fighter 25s Messiah (under construction)

I bought this Valkyrie along with a friend's birthday at Cineleisure, marking my second Macross 'toy' after 20 years!

This Valkyrie in particular is the VF-25s Messiah from the anime "Macross Frontier". It's a model kit and requires a LOT of piecing together. So far, it's looking good and the pieces are holding out quite sturdy. As a product from Bandai, this is indeed a welcome surprise after my horror which was the Wing Gundam Zero Custom. The wings' backpack kept falling off and the figure can't stand steadily due to the over-balancing of the wings-to-body ratio.

As far as I know from the VF-25s, this is a recommended model kit for Macross fans who can't afford to buy the chogokin version.

Metasaurs pterodactyl

What you see above is a pterodactyl in 3D jigsaw puzzle format. Now how cool is that?

The thing's fully poseable at selected joints, looks and feels very sturdy and makes a great display piece for the room or hall. The joints are quite tight and held in place in various angles, but this is not something you'd want to get for your kids. Nosiree.

Like jigsaws, the process of putting all the pieces together takes time. There are four foam boards where you need to push the pieces out. And you'd better do it carefully, else you could end up bending the piece and deforming it which could lead to many unwanted scenarios. One that comes to mind are a few broken pieces. Mind you, the cheapest set costs RM50, so unless you can afford to buy new ones whenever you have a few mangled pieces, I would advise against rough and reckless handling.

A Token of Love

As I start a new journey in my current company, the love of my life unexpectedly gave me this little nudge of encouragement.

Thank you, dearest. Love you always.
